Partial Discharge Testing

PD Preamplifiers and Data Acquisition Modules

Brand: Megger
Available on order
Product description
Power Diagnostix offers a complete range of modular pre-amplifiers for various testing applications. The most significant difference between pre-amplifiers lies in the frequency range in which they detect partial discharge signals. Other distinguishing features include transparency and switching options, unipolar and bipolar charge detection, as well as galvanic isolation in the test setup.

All external signal processing modules and pre-amplifiers from Power Diagnostix are powered and controlled remotely via a simple coaxial signal cable (RG58). This method allows these devices to be placed close to the sensor or signal source. Additionally, since these modules act as impedance converters and line drivers, weak signal sources such as voltage dividers or connection impedances are not loaded by capacitance or cable impedance.

This method also provides improved overvoltage protection. All RPA series pre-amplifiers can operate with a power cable up to 50 meters long at 50 W.

RPA1 is a standard pre-amplifier for low-frequency measurements according to standards such as IEC 60270. RPA1D, RPA1E, RPA1F, and RPA1G are variations of RPA1.

RPA1D and RPA1G are suitable for direct connection to ultrasonic acoustic sensors. To simplify connection, they provide a choice of power supply for the sensor (15 V DC or 28 V DC).

RPA1L and RPA1H are mainly intended for measurements on medium and high-voltage power cables using ICMcompact.

RPA2 is primarily designed for spectral analysis of partial discharge signals observed in rotating machines, while RPA2B is used with capacitive sensors for monitoring cables and cable accessories with higher sensitivity.

The RPA3 module is well-suited for measuring spectra of partial discharge signals detected by sensors and antennas installed with SF6.
