The TRS1 transformation ratio standard is developed for use with transformation ratio meters as a high-precision reference standard. This unique standard can provide ratio values in both reduced (traditional transformation ratio meters) and increased (manual Biddle thermometer) test modes. The standard is intended for use as a laboratory calibration reference or as a portable control standard for verifying transformation ratios in field conditions and for any transformation ratio measuring device.

TRS1 can be used with any single-phase or three-phase transformation ratio. Connecting three TRS1 devices allows testing the 'star-star' configuration with three-phase ratios. During testing of three-phase ratios with TRS1, single-phase or three-phase excitation of the device should be used. This is to save time or to verify models of phase transformation ratios TTRU3.

Primarily, TRS1 is intended for calibration centers where precise transformation ratio conversion is required. Additionally, TRS1 is designed for rugged and simple use as a set for measuring field transformation ratios. Connections are designed to work with large test clips, and when measurement results of complex transformers do not meet expectations, TRS1 provides field confirmation that the device is functioning properly and accurately reports the ratio.
