The MJ159 insulation resistance tester provides excellent regulation of test voltage and is ideal when high ranges are required for insulation resistance measurement. It also features an external protective lead to eliminate surface leakage current during measurement.

The device generates a regulated high DC voltage and uses high-precision circuits with low zero drift and high current sensitivity. Designed for portability, it is housed in a molded, impact-resistant, fireproof ABS plastic case with a foldable carrying handle.

The MJ159 operates from a low-voltage manual-driven generator, designed for easy rotation even under full load. The low-voltage generator is connected to an electronic inverter to ensure very stable test voltage. Measurement accuracy is unaffected by generator speed fluctuations, and the test voltage is maintained at the nominal level.

The MJ159 has four selectable test voltages: 100 V, 250 V, 500 V, and 1000 V DC. It measures insulation resistance up to 2000 MΩ and has a measurement range up to 5000 Ω.

As a safety feature, the AC voltage range activates immediately when the device is connected to the test circuit. A warning is issued that the circuit under test is not de-energized before operation begins. Although calibrated for AC voltage, it also monitors the automatic discharge function so that after testing capacitive equipment (e.g., cables), an indication can be obtained that the voltage has discharged to a safe level for disconnecting measurement leads.

The device is portable and autonomous, designed for quick and accurate measurements.
